Tesla vehicles kept crashing even after the Autopilot software updates, NHTSA says

At least 20 Tesla vehicles with Autopilot engaged were involved in crashes since the company issued a voluntary recall for the advanced driver assist system last December, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration revealed in a new filing this week.

Tesla recalled over 2 million vehicles with Autopilot in response to NHTSA’s investigation into dozens of crashes involving the company’s driver assist feature, including several which were fatal. The recall was meant to address issues around driver inattention and Tesla’s warning systems, which NHTSA said has contributed to hundreds of crashes and dozens of deaths.
